Pendulum (2018)
After the passing of his father, Cal returns to his childhood home where he relives old memories and discovers the true meaning of legacy.
Having had piano lessons as a child and being a huge fan of film scores, I taught myself to compose. Plugging a keyboard to a computer not only enabled me to have an orchestra at my fingertips but to create the music for all of my films as well. This eventually evolved into the idea of writing a score together with a script and the result was this, a short film with a story that relies on sound and visuals, which I think is the essence of visual storytelling.
It went on to be nominated as a finalist in the USA Film Festival’s International Short Film Competition, as well as shortlisted for Promofest’s Short Of The Year. It also featured in several cities as part of the Lift-Off global network of festivals, including New York, Manchester and Toronto.
I made this film to explore the concept of time and life as a whole. I am fascinated by these themes and through the clock’s pendulum that continues to swing, it is apparent that these concepts are beyond man’s control. I am proud of this film, proud of the cast and crew, proud to have our names attached to this shared celebration of visual storytelling.
