  • Dr. Abbas Wehbe

    HISTORY

    Dr. Wehbe is a practicing medical doctor and pharmacist based in Nabatieh, Lebanon. He has dedicated most of his life to research pertaining to his hometown’s famous inventor, Hassan Kamel Al- Sabbah. He compiled a collection of notes and documents from Lebanon and the world to serve as references in the book he wrote on the late scientist. As the Chairman of the Al-Sabbah National Committee, he helps maintain Sabbah’s statue, tomb and mausoleum, and is known as the town’s best resource and expert on Sabbah.

  • Chris Hunter

    ARCHIVES

    As Vice-President, Chris oversees exhibition development and the technology history collections at the Museum of Innovation and Science (miSci) in Schenectady, New York. He is a leading authority on the history of electrical and electronic technologies and has curated numerous exhibitions relating to General Electric Co. at miSci. “Al-Sabbah is a person we would love to learn more about as an inventor and visionary, as well as his immigrant experience and representation as an early Muslim-American inventor”.

  • Ramin Bahrani

    CREATIVE

    The Academy Award nominated Iranian-American writer, director, and producer of The White Tiger, for which Ramin earned Oscar, BAFTA, and WGA Award nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay, based on the prize-winning novel by Aravind Adiga and executive produced by Priyanka Chopra-Jonas and Ava DuVernay. Legendary film critic Roger Ebert proclaimed Bahrani as “the director of the decade” in 2010. His previous films have made their world premieres at the Venice International Film Festival and the Cannes Film Festival.

  • Alwin Daus, Ph.D.

    SCIENCE

    After his doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zürich and his B.Sc./M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from TU Braunschweig, Alwin studied flexible electronic devices based on 2D materials and chalcogenides including transistors, memory, solar cells, and sensors during his postdoc. He was awarded the AVS Nanoscale Science and Technology Division Early Career Award in 2021. He is a group leader at RWTH Aachen University after being selected for the prestigious Emmy Noether Programme by the German Research Foundation.
